John M. McDowell, LMSW, MSW

John holds a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan School of Social Work in 2014 and earned a Graduate Certificate in LGBT Health Policy and Practice from George Washington University. I’ve also been trained in Parent Management Training Oregon Model (PMTO), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for children and youth, and Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy (CBCT) for couples coping with PTSD.

AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION

John’s been a licensed clinical social worker since 2016 and have had the privilege of providing therapy in many different settings for community mental health, juvenile justice, private practice, non-profits, and hospitals. I’ve worked with children, teens, adults, couples, veterans, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. My experience includes supporting people navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, chronic illness, complex PTSD, identity and sexuality, relationship challenges, and personality disorders.

John works with young adults, adults and elders.

John is a private practice clinician who offers a variety of affordable psychotherapy services for individuals, couples, groups and families.

John accepts direct payment at the time of service.  As a courtesy to consumers, John will bill for services rendered should consumers have manage care coverage which John is a panel provider.  

John also offers a sliding fee scale for those individuals who do not have insurance coverage or those consumers who choose not to utilize their insurance for any reason. John provides a Good Faith Estimate for all those who request one.
