Alison L. Wilson, MSW, LMSW

Alison holds a masters degree in social work and is a Licensed Master Social Worker. She earned her bachelors degree in social work from Oakland University in May 2011, and her Masters degree in Social Work from Wayne State University in May 2012. She graduated from both universities with honors and is a member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society.

Areas of Specialization

Alison is experienced in helping victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Through her work at a non-profit organization that provides services to end domestic and sexual violence, Alison has helped many individuals and families in their journey to live a life free of violence.

As a Qualified Intellectual Developmental Professional (QIDP) Alison works with people who have developmental and learning disabilities. She draws upon her own experiences to find creative ways to help clients learn, understand, and become independent in their own time, in their own unique way.

Alison also works within the LGBT community assisting those who are struggling with coming out, sexuality, sexual identity, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, substance abuse, and cognitive impairment.

Alison’s Philosophy Statement

I believe that all people have dignity and worth regardless of one’s ethnic, cultural, religious, social, racial, or economic background; sexual orientation, gender identity, sexual expression, or special needs. I strive to create a safe, secure environment in which I can help my clients to develop specified goals, with clear and obtainable objectives such that they realize successes along their path to healing and growth.

It is my responsibility to utilize the many combined resources of the community to provide my clients with the most appropriate tools to develop self-sufficiency.
