Joshua R. Curie, MSW,LMSW, CAADC

Joshua (utilizes he/him pronouns) is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW-Clinical) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) in the state of Michigan. He has been working in the mental health sector in the Metro Detroit region since 2012 and as a therapist since 2014. He has worked extensively in the community mental health sector as a case manager, program manager, clinic coordinator and therapist. Joshua has conducted workshops and lectured on the integration of faith and sexuality.

AREAS OF SPECIALIZATION

Joshua has over 12 years of experience working with diverse populations around the United States. He has worked with homeless young adults both in New Jersey and Michigan, served children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities in California, provided specialty and mental health care for HIV+ and LGBTQ individuals in Michigan and Ohio and worked with survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. He is also an avid runner and spin cycling instructor, who can assist in lifestyle coaching and wellness.

 Joshua wholeheartedly believes in the integration of the whole person (mind/body/spirit). His approach to therapy focuses not only on cognition, but also physical, emotional, spiritual and behavioral needs. His style mimics Carl Rogers, as he places a strong emphasis on relationship building, collaboration, a non-judgmental approach and unconditional positive regard.

-LGBTQ focused (coming out, transitioning, reconciling faith and sexuality, mixed-orientation relationships, substance abuse, sex addiction)

 Joshua is a private practice clinician who is able to offer a variety of affordable psychotherapy services for individuals, couples, groups and families in a safe and confidential setting.

 Joshua accepts direct payment (cash/credit card) at the time of service.  Joshua is able to bill some managed care providers and is happy to discuss the utilization of insurance on a case by case basis. Unfortunately, Joshua is unable to accept Medicaid or Medicare insurances. Joshua also offers a sliding fee scale for those individuals who do not have insurance coverage or who choose not to utilize their insurance.
